EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy designed to help you process and heal from difficult or distressing experiences. When something overwhelming happens, the brain can struggle to fully process it, leaving memories feeling “stuck.” These unprocessed experiences can show up as anxiety, triggers, intrusive thoughts, or a sense of being overwhelmed. EMDR helps the brain reprocess these memories so they feel less intense and more integrated.

During EMDR therapy, we gently focus on specific memories while using bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements or tapping). This supports your brain’s natural ability to process and make sense of what happened without needing to relive the experience in detail. Over time, the emotional charge connected to these memories decreases, allowing you to feel more grounded, present, and in control.

EMDR is commonly used for trauma and PTSD, but it can also be helpful for anxiety, panic, performance stress, and negative beliefs about yourself (such as feeling “not good enough”). It can be a powerful approach for shifting patterns that feel stuck, especially when insight alone hasn’t led to lasting change.
